Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide any preschool music programs?
The Old Greenwich Music Studio currently provides music programs for the following Greenwich area preschools: Children's Day School - Greenwich, Children's Day School - Riverside, First Church Preschool, First Presbyterian Church Nursery School, Long Ridge Bright Horizons Child Development Center, and North Greenwich Preschool.
I see that you provide music classes at my child's preschool; why have we not received any "At Home" materials?
Children whose preschool has opted to include Kindermusik's Music Box(TM) curriculum in their music program will be sent home with a new materials kit approximately every 10 weeks. Each week thereafter, your child will receive an envelope with a "Music At Home" card which summarizes that week's lesson and an attendance sticker. Additional learning materials which correspond with class songs and/or games may also be sent home. If your preschool is providing Music Box - and your child has not received his or her "Music Box," please check with your preschool!
Not all preschools have chosen to include the Music Box(TM) programs in their school's curriculum or enrichment program. For these schools we offer an alternate preschool music program.
Registration
What does your registration fee cover?
The 2006 - 2007 Registration Fee covers all materials costs, insurance and administration costs. This fee will be restructured beginning in Fall 2007 for greater transparency.
According to the ages listed for my child's Kindermusik class, she/he will be too old for her/his current class before the year finishes. What should I do?
Begin by sharing any concerns with your teacher. Through weekly interaction and observation of your child, she will be best able to discuss the available options with you.
In the event that a family and an educator are unable to agree on the proper placement for a child, a knowledgeable but impartial third party will sit in on one or more classes, the observations from which will be presented and discussed in a round-table meeting.
I do not see a class time that works for me.
Please contact us and let us know what would be convenient for you and then spread the word: a minimum of 4 enrollments must be met before a new class can be scheduled and a teacher assigned.
I see a class that works for my schedule, but I called the studio and was told that that class is not currently running.
The class in question did not meet the required minimum of 4 enrollments. If the minimum enrollment can be met, we will consider opening the class.

What should my child and I wear / bring to class?
Dress comfortably! We spend as much time sitting (or lying) on the floor as we do marching and tiptoeing on our feet. The more comfortable you are, the more comfortable your child will be. Children in the ImagineThat and YoungChild programs should be sufficiently comfortable in their school clothes.
In an effort to keep the studio as safe and clean as possible for our youngest students, the Kindermusik studio is a "shoes free" zone. There are benches (with cubbies beneath) where shoes, coats, and bags and all other belongings should be left during class.
